SPACE

White space is an essential ingredient in advertising – from an art/composition point of view, as critically important as the showcased product.
The issue of space, empty space, vacant space, and giving someone space is a concept we ought to grasp quickly, but I’m not sure we all ‘get it’ and can ‘do it’ as effectively as we might profess in principle.
Because our lives aren’t lived in a theoretical way – we are doing the real, unrehearsed, unscripted, unimaginable things called life and relationships.
I’ve been giving this lots of thought lately – learning that the ‘well-worn path’ theory has different ways of playing out when an 8-minute walk replaces a 40-minute drive; it’s all good, only different. It’s happy, just new.
It’s interesting but still in early days.
Nights too.
So giving space, enough space – or tightening it up, encroaching – has its place too.
Early days.
Lots of ways to allocate space and intensity, like a well-balanced ad.
