A WALK IN THE PARK

On a recent early morning walk, I heard a music performance, one I’ve not heard in a while – it was about the time you’d expect roosters to start pre-sunrise crowing to wake their barnyard pals.
It was a coyote chorus, and though they were not very close, they sounded like they were.
Young ones and old ones, many with howls at the moon (I’m guessing on that one) of various lengths and volumes, which were interspersed with short younger-sounding yips.
On days when the news is rife with strife, the rhetoric ratcheted to a high level over climate, politics, vaccines, mayhem on the streets and endless social media noise – it’s so pleasant by contrast to have the silence of predawn pierced by every rooster’s worst enemy, the common coyote.
