ALTERATIONS
Sunday Nov. 27, 2016
We all know that word …
Sewing work, tailors, dress makers – usually cheap or crude signs in a window or back of the store.
They can hem your pants or let out your waist. Take it in, and let it out again. Shorten the jacket, shorten the sleeves …
Wouldn’t it be great to alter our lives?
Just call in the tailor – snip here, a tuck there, we could update our look easily. But first, what needs fixing? Needs updating? New drapes, new people, new glasses, or new outlook? New clothes, or trade thin skins for thick?
Reshaping what’s already shaped, changing ‘already formed’ seems formidable. Just an excuse. We can change anything about ourselves that we want. Yes, we can’t make ourselves younger – but few other obstacles stand in our way.
Except our own heads.
Reader feedback:
KNOW MEANS KNOW
Great Point. I work on this every day. Thanks for the reminder, MJ, Edmonton, AB
Our best can only be our best at that time and place. Yes, we do sabotage ourselves. I don't know why?, LH, Lethbridge, AB
ASKED, NOT ANSWERED
One's success or failure is usually deep inside. Whatever others say or think about any of us we know, we truly know if we are doing our best or not. WE KNOW. There is no fooling ourselves at 2 am. We know!, AN, Calgary, AB
