HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN
Saturday, November 27, 2021
In recent months, my life has felt more together than in many years – with too many contributing elements to list here, but I’m happy!
And more productive.
And I’m feeling more clearly focused, which leaves me questioning why, and how, and how long, how wide and how deep is the basket of goodness? Is it only me, or do others feel uplifted – and having said that, the more profound question is whether this is a ‘wishing to be happy’ phenomenon, or if they indeed are better days?
Coming out of the pandemic (so it seems) and resuming normal activities is part of that – and I’m sure it is for most people in countries with high percentages of people vaccinated.
Improvement requires more than showing up every day, and progress is never assured – but we should begin with an end in mind, some notion of what success looks like …
Those are not my original thoughts, but I’ve heard variations on those themes enough to have adopted them as a general viewpoint, which begs the question of whether I should go forward with those principles in mind or go some other direction in my thinking as an experiment to see what kind of result unfolds.
I can’t.
We are who we are, and we aren’t going to change – isn’t an entirely absolute statement, but I’ve learned we can’t change much in ourselves, let alone change others.
We are who we began to be, shaped as our family upbringing determined. Those early lessons don’t govern what I’ll do today or tomorrow, but whatever character traits and values I hold dear – that’s where they started.
And, to Alberta residents only: THIRD ACTion Film Festival is doing a 50/50 raffle again – buy a ticket, be a winner + make the pot richer, for a great cause – draw date is Dec. 22nd.
