I DON’T REMEMBER EVER WANTING FOR ANYTHING
Wednesday Nov. 30, 2016
Not that we were ever rich, or that I’ve ever achieved such status.
I don’t remember feeling impoverished either.
Never shoeless, homeless, starving or lost in wilderness.
Never ill without help, broke without help, or destitute without dreams.
Over hills and through deep valleys in life, through low points of despair and through high delusions of grandeur …
But what have I got?
Prosperity above average anywhere on earth – which is not to say I’m well off or would have anyone glowing about my accomplishments or wealth, but have you looked at those statistics?
The world is poor by any measure.
Everybody has feet, but too many have no shoes.
The world is prosperous, but too many have nothing.
The world is healthy, but too many have no hope of well-being as we know it.
The world has GPS for everything but in every country, too many people don’t know where they are or where they are going.
Or what they are going to do …
