SHOW ME A SIGN
Wednesday, November 3, 2021
Do we need a sign, directions from Yogi, or simply the confidence to take the turn, shift directions, try new things or is it risky to wander around life or the planet in search of a new adventure?
“When you come to a fork in the road, take it.” – Yogi Berra
These pearls of wisdom are not what they first appear. While they are life-guiding/loin-girding metaphor of broad appeal, most people don’t know that Yogi was merely giving directions to friends, of how to get to his house – and since he lived at the top of a loop when you came to that fork, the distance was the same whether you went right or left.
I like the extra meaning, or inference, that whichever route you take, you might end up in the same place no matter what path you take; in addition to the notion of taking a bold step, making a new route, will take you places you never imagined being.
This is true in so many aspects of life.
Intersections in life are a lot like roadway traffic signs …

Each one of these common sign terms can guide us into a great discussion and peals of laughter, but like that warning to stay back from an elevator shaft will warn, “It’s not the fall that kills you, it’s the sudden stop.”
Whatever we do today or tomorrow is likely rooted in one of two things: scarcity or abundance. If we fear, if we worry, if we think happiness and/or prosperity are in short supply, we might cautiously act like a tortoise – we won’t stray far or make many sudden moves. On the other hand, if we believe the life and liberty we all have empowers us to creatively flourish in a field of abundant opportunities, the possibilities are endless.
Every choice moment in the day is FORK in the road.
Move at your own speed, of course, but when you come to a fork in any road, take it!
