COULD BE SNOW
Monday Oct. 23, 2017
Some mornings, I look quickly – light bathed parking lot. At first blush, looks white.
Snow?
Again.
It’s just light.
Part-minute-mind flits – what kind of day it might be, weather/season shift. First blush ~ to last gasp ~ nanoseconds long.
Knowing which thought waves to surf, which ones to pass – separates superstars from paupers, unlucky from ‘charmed existence’.
Perceiving business, industry and finance icons as ‘superstars’, we are so easily resigned to never having their potential.
Powerful people trade in power, prosperity and politics – trading in ideas, hopping aboard bandwagons and championing causes pioneered by others. Thoughts become actions ~ human change doesn’t live exclusively at desks of Wall Street or Silicon Valley wunderkinds ~ seismic social and societal changes come from poor, powerless and pitifully obscure folks (Rosa Parks, Nelson Mandela, Mother Teresa, Lech Walesa) too.
Where am I going here?
Not saying we could/should become champions or powerful-ones, but rather – we could do better in our lives, and possibly for humanity by taking time each day to notice our own good ideas, recognize what needs doing, what needs re-invention and what needs more sweat. We see those things in our corner of earth – we can all take a step to lend hands, to right wrongs, to lift someone.
It begins with a single action, borne of a single thought …
It might be ‘fixing a problem you see’, strengthening something that is weak, helping someone in trouble, preventing something, solving something, inventing something.
Look outside. Do you see snow? Or do you see light …?
Thoughts hold enormous power – to alter our thought path, our day, or maybe our life path.
p.s.: this thought? I read a paper, finished a cup of coffee – there it was, in a heart-beat – I had this idea. OK, it took 15 minutes to write it, a hour to re-write it and an hour to polish it … but to think it – only took a moment.
