OWE CANADA, SO MANY THANKS
Friday, October 8, 2021
It is a beautiful time of year with frost now teasing with us every morning, and threats of snow from the weatherman remind us what time it is, turkey weekend arrives, leaves fallen outnumber those still anchored on branches – park floor and most lawns are painted gold.
It’s time for gratitude.
Come with me, for a moment, forget the last two years of stress and education in communicable diseases and their remedies – and teachings you wish you never needed, but be grateful you know how to be safe, stay safe and be more thoughtful of everyone dodging this variant du jour.
We have too often been reminded of late that life is not measured so much by quantity as it is by quality – and whether we have a day, 10 thousand days or a thousand thousand days ahead, we need to appreciate every day that passes better, and be so thankful we have them – even better if we have someone to share them with; and whether your weekend is with family, friends, or alone – I appreciate you.
Every day I get to write my thoughts and publish them – I do this in a free country where speech and mobility are as unrestricted as I can imagine anywhere free and democratic. That’s an imperfect country, mind you, and full of imperfect citizens – I am grateful for all of you.
My plans involve work, play, turkey, laughter, and watching some movies.
And cleaning my BBQ.
And cooking.
And, and …
And appreciating simplicity, discarding/reducing what I don’t need any longer to make way, to make room for new adventures, new pursuits, and to-be-determined experiences.
