WORKING IN HARMONY
Thursday Oct. 13, 2016
Seemed ‘doing these small things’ made each day simpler (especially those first few hours), more creative …
Realizing many tiny things, collectively, have become huge – making unexpected differences in my life, my output and my effectiveness. Without doubt my evening-before preparation is an equally integral component – early-to-bed ‘sleep strategies’ have made a substantial contribution; all ‘those routines’, all that simplifying or better longer happier sleeps – all of them working in harmony.
Might seem silly. I am owning it’s value, it’s importance so I don’t mind sharing …
Some people wear the same wardrobe every day (not much fashion excitement – but think of all the time and decisions saved), so they never have to decide what to wear.
Mine are tiny ‘prevention of things that disturb flow’.
By reducing my time, especially my late in the day ‘plan tomorrow’ time and those first few hours in the morning being reduced to the simplest form of routine, economy of actions and footsteps, then I have more time for focusing one what I’m focusing on. More freedom from decisions or the need to think about making decisions – which I believe helps me be more creative, more available and more open to making choices when choice-points arrive, more receptive to a call or email or meeting that delivers surprises and a need to grapple with something.
Some days I crave the ‘decision free zone’, and more often lately I’m getting closer to achieving it. By that I don’t mean a day without decisions or of ‘not being prepared to make decisions – but rather creating a situation where fewer decisions are required.
Makes me happier, better …
P.S. to Gusta’s fans and weather and dog watchers … yesterday was a fantastic day for a long walk – some snow remaining, brilliant blue sky and morning sunshine - great big long long walk with Gusta was a worthy gym avoidance strategy … a great thought-percolation process …
