I have some gratitude to share today – a little mental exercise; short, easy, won’t tax your mind too heavily.
Imagine today is your blank slate day.
What does that mean?
You might also call it magic wand fantasy day.
Wherever you are in life, just for now – just for pretend, step outside that box.
Stand outside, and imagine this:
You are not who you are, don’t live where you live, don’t have the family you have, don’t have the work/profession you have, don’t have the money you have (or the debts!)
You get to choose who you want to be (remember, this is just an exercise in ideas – just wave that magic wand to be who you would love to be, where you would want to be, and what you would want to be doing
In my experience, only rarely, do I fantasize about being right here, right now, and doing what I’m doing right now. I have wishes to go, to do, to see, and to be somewhere else doing something else and experiencing different things. Not all the time, not that divergent from my life, which I enjoy – but this exploration lets me explore my unmet needs, my unfulfilled desires, and my appetite for change.
Go ahead – try. This little process takes only a few minutes of solitude, apply your mind, and remember to bring your magic wand.
And happy Thanksgiving to all Canadian readers – hope you are having a great pumpkin-free Thanksgiving weekend of raking leaves, roasting turkeys and waving your magic wand. To our American friends, I wish you would roast your turkey …
