PUBLIC JOB JAR

Something is eroding value and creativity – sapping our value as people and organizations – and this can be stopped. It must be stopped. OK, the world will not end, but our chances of making this a much better world will be greatly enhanced if we can eliminate this one problem.

What is it?

The missed opportunity.

Wouldn’t it be great if we could eliminate those?

They arrive every hour of every day. I know, because I miss so many that I know of and I cannot imagine how many I am missing that I am oblivious to. But, what can just one person do? Good question …

How about this – pointing out the opportunities we see, saying them out loud or posting them in some central place. For instance, if 100 people had a place to post one opportunity every day, that would be 700/week, that’s 36,400 opportunities each year that won’t be missed. Try it with 1,000 people – then it’s 364,000 opportunities that won’t be missed.

Seems to me some form of app + website might get this done.

If we see opportunities we have the time, energy and capital to exploit.

Great, exploit-on my friends.

But for those opportunities we see but have no time or resources to fulfill, should we let that great idea lapse or could we not start some adventure where we can post an idea that shouldn’t get away, a repository of ‘things to be done’ that have never been done?

A collective public ‘job jar’ of things that could be done, should be done – those proverbial “someone ought to do this” statements.

Let’s start, eh …
