SECRET SAUCE
Saturday Sept. 26, 2015
“Everything will be alright in the end so if it’s not alright it is not the end.” – Sunny (Dev Patel) in The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.
Someone lamenting they’d not found magic lately despite valiant attempts – responded to my comment that I believe Churchill’s never give up quote. I explained that I’d made some new connections worthy of further investigation. Olds. And in Montana.
Their response: ‘Olds and Montana are a long drive for a date’. My reply: “I don’t know about you but magic, when we find it, is worthy of distance … always. Not to say it makes for ‘simple’, but magic rarely is.”
Balancing life’s scales, if lucky, we get back some measure of what we give.
Isn’t about getting. It’s about giving. It took me a long time to get the nuances of that squared away in my head. Or, maybe I was just waiting …
Go big, or go home – when building great relationships, it is time for big investment. Not meaning money, I’m talking effort.
Not meaning sincerity wrapped in smarm – but realness rapt, caring – not coddling, investing effort. Secret-sauce recipes include momentum. Add milk, rice krispies make music. Cook bacon – you’ve got sizzle. Add chillies, you’ve got zing.
Mixing meal metaphors we all want snap, crackle, sizzle and zing. Don’t we?
Mixing people, want it too, more than ever. Makes parties fun, makes luncheon tables dynamic. Makes dinner tables worthy of candles. And cloth napkins.
We can travel through life in economy. We want first class, don’t we? First class life, first class relationships – fabulous feelings, for everything to be alright in the end …

morning walk: 7C/45F, light cloud, light traffic – quiet, settled, light breeze rustling leaves, Gusta sniffing for rabbit candy. I’m rested and well, ankle feeling strong … bring on the day!
