LOSS, LEAK, and LEARN

Every loss is different. Every failure is the same.
Every win is different. Every success is the same.
Is it any different, in terms of how we feel, when something goes wrong today than it did when we were adolescents?
Or does it feel different when we win, or get excited, or have a breakthrough?
My point is that we come by these feelings of joy and sadness, rage and madness, dissatisfaction or gladness in simple fundamental ways. And our emotions show. They are reflected on our faces and in our actions. There is no containing them because they leak out. Even when internalized and self-muzzled, they leak out sooner or later.
Face and body language reveal a lot, and for me, those are my tells, but even clumsy folks like me keep parts of our feelings stored deeper, and we hide those feelings we dare not reveal. Sometimes because of what their disclosure might trigger and from fears, the fear being that their revelation won’t trigger anything at all.
We don’t get what we expect or want, as often as we get what we’ve earned – but too often, we rationalize that we didn’t get something because we weren’t deserving.
