Every boy who ever picked up a phone to call a girl learned early on, not hearing rejection, but rather to understand that is anxiety, trying something new, risking failure, stretching to do anything ‘as if we knew how’, is how we grow. More we grow, the bigger we grow, the clearer we get at identifying subtle differences between real risk and simply discomfort, recognizing pot-holes on life’s path are not what life is about – but navigational aids, helping us find our way to where we think we are going.
We take side-roads, temporary distractions in stride, because we learned that sometimes the toughest part is ‘just starting,’ because once we are in motion, knowing what we feel strongly about with commitment to our goal, to an end-point, to some destination – few things can stop us.
