NO CURE

Saturday Aug. 15, 2015

Can be caught.

Or given away, infecting others.

Viral pathogen increases potency, like some perverse loaves & fishes parable …

Cannot be removed or cured.

Can be forgotten or ignored temporarily, but once part of our being, no eradicating this invisible force. No distinguishing, yours from mine. Pervasive, universal meaning, yet most days no one understands.

No avoidance. Relief, at best, temporary …

Once contracted, cannot be shed. Resides in organs, flesh or bloodstream. No DNA marker, no genome sequence map, we’d perish without …

Found in everyone – found in art, science, humanities and religion. Found in mountains, in gutters, in richness, in poverty. In every promise made. In every pledge ever broken – universal salve for sores, music for every occasion, nothing we wouldn’t do or say to get or recover it when we’ve lost it.

What wouldn’t you do for it, what wouldn’t you say to have a handful, or a bushel of this magic cure, the universal solvent that cures all like snake-oil salesmen used to claim? But this really does the trick!

Easy answer is to say, for everything.

To – be happy, to have joy, to feel it long, strong and deep. Better than ever, better than you imagined. Not regretting.

Regretting is complicated. We can’t reverse things, travel backward in time or un-do our deeds, can’t un-mess our messes but we can admit to and confess all those things in need of re-addressing which cures nothing, but it feels good.

Often used as noun, it is more properly all verb – actions spelled, leaked and spilled everywhere – spawning quotes, poems, novels, sonnets, ransom notes, court edicts ...

Love …

morning walk:  10C/50F, we walked in the space between overnight rain and morning rain – fresh, calm – heat wave seems to be over. Gusta found good smells, I found good energy – it was a long walk and it could have been so much longer, I would have walked all day …
