JUDGEMENT CALLS

Bad judgement produces mistakes.

Good judgement comes from learning from mistakes.

Discovery often comes from a mistake or taking the wrong/different/alternate path.

And then, one day, somedays says, “Hmm, that’s interesting.”, and the world changes.

Just as quickly, though, we might go down a path we later regret – not that we have a horrific experience. Still, we spend time and toil on a commitment to something that we ought not to have invested time and effort into, and because we could have invested that time and effort in something else, something more wisely chosen.

But here’s the thing, there is no litmus test on ideas, no guarantee of smooth pavement on the road ahead; sometimes we blithely move forward and far, sometimes we crash and burn – but we learn valuable lessons from these experiences in terms of what we are made of, and what others are made of too – we learn about character, process, interactions and reactions, and when to go ahead.

And when to stop, or quit altogether.

Thanks again for your wise words.  A good friend passed away recently and we read THE DASH as part of our tribute to her. Exceptional and unique as our DNA - has anyone ever dared to be 'average'? , JR, Calgary, AB

START WITH THE END IN MIND
Morning Mark, Thanks for your great  Sunday  eye opener.  You are right about the need for each of us to take stock of who we are and what drives us.  What values, choices make up life's journey?  Isn't it a question of testing?  Aren't we challenged, every day, to make choices and experiences that determine our emotional barometer? A wise person once told me that if you feel fear, discomfort or humiliation, it is an opportunity for learning.  Do we leave before the storm, weather the storm or wait for the sunshine? , JR, Calgary, AB
