Tuesday Aug. 7, 2018

Starting something – starting anything, usually requires clear focus on what you want to do and having the resources to do it. Resources, for most people, are some combination of cash, credit availability, premises and people. For most new ventures those premises and people tend to gobble plenty of the cash early on which, in the techie/startup world have given rise to a new term in our vocabulary: burn- rate

I think that’s a good thing. The other term I find amusing is my modification of that one: burn-out-rate – meaning the pace at which energy dissipates. If one is providing the cast resources, this burn-out factor is pretty important; because, we work very hard for our dreams if we aren’t getting paid and even harder if we are doing the paying without revenue coming in yet …

P.S.:  every year on this date I find/feel a new beginning. It isn’t easily missed because of the date – but I hold to the illusion I can think about something fresh every day of the year, to be inspired as-if it was my first day of life, my first day of a new year, my first day of a new adventure … happy birthday to me!
