OPPORTUNITY DOES NOT ALWAYS KNOCK
Thursday Dec. 20, 2018
Wait, stop, hold on, not so fast …
Let me catch up. Can we put that on hold, set it on the back-burner? Hurry. Go. Let ‘er rip. Go hard. I’m right beside you. Can we do more, better – what else can we do, are these the extremes, or just opposite sides of one coin – clever sentences I built?
Whether this is ‘life as we see it’ or just a construct for conversation – consider this question: are we at either of those extremes, or are we struggling to be half-way, in the middle steering and ‘average course’ through life’s pylons? I don’t think there is a right or wrong answer, but rather a ‘your answer’ or ‘my answer’. I don’t think it is practical to aim for the same spot or some ideal place on the risk-reward continuum of life. The trick, I think, is to pick our place or our target while not disrespecting the place or target of anyone else.
We are not all headed to the same place and our reasons are as diverse as these places we seek to go. I can’t possibly be right for everyone, and most people aren’t right for me – but sometimes we connect with someone, with something, with some idea, with some pursuit which is absolutely the best thing we could ever do. The question, when we find it, is will we embrace it – or miss that opportunity completely.
