How many people, right now, this week, are stewing away in their bodies like tough meat in a slow cooker; this is the season of light and joy, but they aren’t feeling it. Whatever they need – love, attention, a raise, a bonus, a job, a house or a kind word – they aren’t feeling it. It is ALL YOUR FAULT. Of course it is, because it isn’t theirs.
You might argue it is theirs: those are self-inflicted circumstances, or it is because they aren’t nice and kind, because they didn’t work hard enough or care enough or try often enough – and you will be right. And you will be wrong.
When people aren’t happy it isn’t clear to them why, whether they are the cause or you are the cause or the government or the rotation of the earth – because they can’t be calm and analytical, they can only feel their lack of joy. Can they fix that? Sure they can, but when you are surrounded by the sounds of joy, the sights of laughter and good cheer, media bombardments of all-things-good, it just doesn’t feel like a wonder life.
Well it is, whether or not you feel it, whether or not they feel it.
