APPRECIATION TIME
Sunday, February 20, 2022

If you didn’t already know, today is the last day of Freelance Writers Appreciation Week!

And I appreciate readers too, all of you.

The distribution list for this daily column has grown and shrunk a lot over the years. Over the last couple of years, it has remained stable at a little over 4,000. At the moment, I believe it is running close to 4,200 – but I’ve seen that ebb and flow as old/out-of-date addresses get purged.

And it would be naïve of me to think everyone on the list reads this column every day, or even frequently, but not-opting-out indicates, in my mind at least, those folks want to get it.

Most read and never respond. I’m grateful you are reading my Musings.

Some recommend it to others (i.e. AND HE TOLD TWO FRIENDS), some reply with comments (a small subset of the group I appreciate very much for your feedback and acknowledgement) with special thanks to those few who catch my grammatical oops-moments, and special thanks to the most vigilant of them all, Ralph.

Anything worth doing is worth doing well. But reality and time pressures often make it challenging to manage a morning walk/write/publish ritual, as do travel, time zones, and fitting my life into my writing. For those reasons, I moved to polishing my column the day/evening before and programming it to publish at 4:30 AM, just about the time I’m waking up.

And, it’s been busy – YAY – in my work, making it tougher than usual. Today is 7,159 consecutive days publishing this column. I’ll keep doing them as long as readers keep reading my thoughts and ramblings.
