FOUR DAYS ON …

Wednesday Jan. 4, 2017

Refocused commitment this year – I’ve taken steps, ensuring my daily regimen leaves adequate time for what I desire to be doing and ‘sticking with it’. Call that a plan if you wish but I’m calling it ‘reasons thought through’, believing if I stick with my daily checklist, daily routine, daily allocations for breathing, eating, sleeping, working, playing, reading, writing – feeling steady, ready and making major progress. OK, maybe it isn’t major in aggregate yet, but it’s feeling that way …

By end of today, 4/365ths of 2017 spent, gone.

Spent living – breathing, eating, sleeping, working, playing, reading, writing.

What do we have to show for it?

Should we know where we are going, or measure how we are going to get there?

Goals, plans and resolutions … so often discarded soon after they’ve been written or said aloud.

Mark, Thanks for sharing your column. I have been an avid follower of your speaking tips, which are a real and thoughtful gift for the world. Having them be so concise another gift in this world where information flows freely every day. Thanks too for asking as it relates to your column. To answer you, what I look for as I look into the waterfall of information is a few cups of wisdom. Boaz are two examples of “widely recognized experts” who do this well and regularly. Today the wisdom in your column is that you share that you’re an everyman - or every-person in this politically correct world (o;  In sharing this reality you underscore our interdependence - you also share the reality that you want to make a difference in the world while also recognizing you also need others. You are also grateful for where you are this morning and what you have accomplished. The wisdom of your thoughts resonate with me this morning too. Some days we want to help someone - some days we want someone to help us - some days we know exactly who we want to help or get help from - most days we have no clue who those people are. Such is the challenge and opportunity accorded to those unconventional few who seek to write a fresh script every day and who are also blessed with the gift to create when, where and how they want. To create is another wonderful gift whether we create a whim, with challenge, at will or with the greatest of intention. As we create we channel wisdom from who knows where – we become mesmerized – we wonder – we wander – we dream – we realize. Putting this reality into words is a gift to me and to others who live large by choosing to create, to give and to share. All the best for a prosperous 2017. Kind Regards, GM, Calgary, AB

Thanks Mark for a Great Read today.  I will be moving in the next few months to Ontario. Hopefully I will be able to keep my e-mails but will let you know. Otherwise I will have to switch to my g-mail account so I don't miss out on your daily message. Thanks for everything you print, MJ, Calgary, AB

Hi Mark, Trust this finds you well, rested and ready for 2017. Hope you had a good festive period. I read your Musings today and felt motivated to write – I get to read 2-3 times a week as it pops up at about 16.00 my time in Muscat when I am trying to clear the desks and hit the gym! I enjoy hitting the read button and not really knowing what to expect! Some hit home, some give me hope and others are way beyond my limited comprehension. Thanks for keeping them flowing. We had a quiet festive period with a few rounds of golf, a few pol days and some good food/wine. We had a 10 day holiday in Cape Town early in November which we really enjoyed (golf/wine/food!). Our aim this year is some stability, some savings, dropping a few kilos but generally a happy year. 2016 was a rough ride and getting established in Oman was not that easy given the boiling temperatures we faced. Look after yourself and keep in touch. Best Regards, KE, Muscat, Oman
