HELP WANTED

We all get it.
We feel it, but we don’t talk about it – we don’t mind-map it, we don’t do a SWOT analysis, but it paralyzes our effectiveness in everything we do.
If we worry about money, all we can do is worry about money – and everything else suffers. If we worry about health, all we can do is worry about health – and everything else suffers. If we worry about a relationship, all we can do is worry about that relationship – and everything else suffers. If these worries are personal, about a friend or family member, client, neighbour or how anyone important in our life lives their life. We get it.
If we worry about a pandemic, all we can do is worry about that pandemic.
We’ve seen firsthand and collectively how everything else suffers.
So, short of being inhumane, how can we strategize not to have things like this derail us?
The only thing more challenging than needing help is needing to ask for help.
If a store puts a sign in a window saying HELP WANTED, you know what that means.
But people don’t put signs in their windows, yet their character is on display – available there to be seen if we want to see them, but most people don’t. In part, because they aren’t looking, but mostly because they willfully avoid seeing.
Reader feedback:
Hi Mark. It concerns me that a few weeks back when we were setting new record high temperatures, no one was commenting on the fact the records being broken were 100 years old. If the problem today is supposed to be about the carbon we are generating, how could the temperatures 100 years ago have been as high as they are today? The climate is always changing and the cause has more to do with the activity of the sun than on generating carbon. Your thoughts?, MM, Calgary, AB
Thanks Mark for another astute observation. Brilliant of you to show how one little letter can alter not just a word but an attitude, JR, Calgary, AB
