MAHALO
Friday Nov. 28, 2014
It has been a long while.
I wondered, before this trip, whether that feeling would return.
Much has happened in five years. So much this last year.
I wondered about that tug, reconnecting with Maui’s magic – whether those strong feelings would still grab me?
Whether they would be stronger or weaker?
Until now.
This morning …
Last morning beach walk, stirring of the spirit, stirring imagination, stirring memory, stirring dreams.
To the basement of my being, connected again for this short time, connected to this incredible place, last walks on my beach, every time I’ve been here, are peculiar emotional experiences.
Simplistic terms fail.
Beach surf, returned to normal levels, I’ll take as a sign …
I walked down my beach, ignoring luxury homes and resorts to one side, I witness beach, waves and view as they were seen by beach walkers over millions of years – no change, same water, same waves, same sand, same view.
Peace, quiet, home and normal will return. Here. And there. Soon enough, cold enough and …
Some friends might tease me. They might kid me, that I’ve had a spiritual experience, as if talking to a spiritual side of my life runs contrary to my non-faith, non-religion, non-god-fearing nature.
I don’t see contradiction.
I don’t mind admitting there are some things I don’t fully comprehend.
I trust them all the same. I trust how I feel, I trust what I see, I trust what I can touch.
Is there more?
I don’t know if I need to know. I don’t feel a quest for deeper understanding of it, but DO feel this unmistakable tug.
This place.

morning walk: 22C here (-22C at home .. yikes), gentle breeze, sky clear, perfect morning, tai-chi guy doing his thing, big hat guy tipping his hat, poodle lady walking her pooch, birds making noise, waves making noise – and people making silent, as if we are all in some kind of beach-walking trance. P.S.: flight is overnight so tomorrow’s walk will be very early in the Vancouver airport shuffling gate to gate …

Thanks Mark for the restaurant info. We are travelling to Kihei in March. Best restaurant in Maui is mama’s Fish house. If you can go it is worth every penny and worth the time to get there from Kihei, RVW, Edmonton, AB
