STEERING AND STEWARDSHIP

Friday Oct. 14, 2016

Holding a point of view is a lot like holding something heavy with both hands – you can’t do anything else until you set it down and let go.

We all believe what we want to believe for whatever reason we want to believe it. The more fervent that belief, more ardent in our resistance to another point of view. Why is this on my mind? It’s something I’ve given thought to from time to time – but recent events … and all the talking-heads of the American political class, media types and hangers-on are dominating the news cycle. It is so bizarre to have leadership of the most powerful nation and economy on earth to be a contest between two highly unpopular people with dodgy truth telling records and the issues they are most concerned about relate to sex lives and wiki-leaks, of emails and allegations – surely their country and the world deserve better people, but if it must be between those two, it would be nice if the wisest steadiest hand would be on the tiller …

WORKING IN HARMONY

Thank you for the Gusta walk entry in your last post. As a dog trainer who works to help owners build better relationships with their dogs, I miss knowing about Gusta's morning walk and the joys it brought to you both. All the best for your future walks - stay warm! I just bought my Milo another sweater :), JT, Calgary, AB
