WITHIN SPITTING DISTANCE
Monday Sept. 2, 2019
How close did you come?
Meaning, how close to what you were aiming for?
Meeting your goals? Or getting closer?
Winning, sure – that’s lovely, but isn’t coming 2
In most situations, with only one prize, coming 2
doesn’t matter much, or does it?
in line for food when there is enough for 50? Fine. If only enough food for nine, that’s a different matter.
Winning the job, or coming 2
? Being first in line when a store opens, or 2
If we believe we should be first, then coming 2
or last offers little satisfaction. If attending, showing up, is what matters, then we measure differently, right?
Sometimes we win the race to get somewhere first, sometimes we get really close – within spitting distance, but don’t quite make it. Is that success, or failure, or something else entirely?
Circumstances of every test in life will likely be different – we don’t get to choose facts, timing or location. Our only choice is how we feel about it, right? That, depends.
If we have a goal, do we have to hit it – or just get close?
Depends … .
